Civil marriage: merits and demerits I

 n modern society the civil marriage is very widespread phenomenon. Quite often it nevertheless comes to the end with a wedding ceremony, but some couples live in such marriage for many years. In what pluses and minuses of such cohabitation?

Positive sides of a civil marriage

·         Supporters of a civil marriage claim that this way of joint life helps to be convinced that the partner really suits us in every sense. Such relations give more freedom of action, and at a rupture of steam feels smaller psychological discomfort, than when parting half of several years of life in official marriage.

·         Optimum term for accommodation in a civil marriage – 2 years. During this time spouses will be able to recognize each other and to understand whether they need to build the further family relations? After the first years of life together spouses need to undergo several crises, and in the course of their overcoming they estimate the readiness to overcome difficulties together.

·         The civil marriage can be regarded as a kind of test for compatibility between spouses. The civil marriage allows to estimate as far as spouses are ready to endure together household problems and whether these two persons in general suit one another.

·         The civil marriage is possible also when couple has no opportunity officially to register the relations, or they are not ready to take such responsibility so far.

·         The option of a civil marriage will be especially relevant for those men and women who already endured a divorce earlier, took this procedure painfully. The civil marriage gives to such people time to restore trust to an opposite sex.

Negative sides of a civil marriage

·         The main negative aspect of a civil marriage is the full instability of the relations. The man and the woman receive freedom of action, at the same time do not fulfill any family obligations.

·         The law on the section of joint property in case of parting does not extend to the people living in a civil marriage. In a civil marriage the woman is more vulnerable, she should support a home while the husband earns money. In case of parting the woman does not receive any compensation and loses that is called with a chipped washing-tub.

·         If at the time of accommodation in a civil marriage the spouses have a child, then in case of parting mother cannot count on payment of alimony as marriage was not officially registered. The illegitimate relations has no lawful and legal bases.

·         In a civil marriage often there are controversial issues concerning property. If the woman also invests any part of money in joint life, then after parting this fact is unprovable therefore and she should not count on the section of joint property.

Each couple has to decide on need of the introduction in a civil marriage individually, without listening to any councils. At the same time, each of partners before decision-making has to consider and weigh everything carefully. Whether such relations in which spouses do not obtain any guarantees, only the word of honor of the soulmate are necessary?
